With a little encouragement from my friends in Southern Minnesota (the other God's Country)  I'm heading down to a great event at the Cannon River Winery in Cannon Falls, Minnesota.  While I'm not exactly a local author, I did hook up with their staff last year at the same event during a rousing 45th class re-union planning meeting.  They seem to like my children books and playing the part of a former Southern Minnie boy...well, I got invited this year.   Hope to see you there.   Here's their invite: We would like to promote Local Authors in Minnesota! Therefore, we've invited local authors to spend Saturday, February 8, 2014 from 12 to 5 pm at our Winery autographing and selling their books.

I'm now back to work after the Holidays and it finds me working on my 3rd and final children's story book about the six animals.  Here's a preview of one recently finished drawings for the book "Christmas Comes to Harvey and His Friends".   I hope to have it out early fall this 2014.  I better, because that is what I've told everyone!   This Friday..January 3rd,  my art group Studio 10 has a "Winter" show opening at Brigid's Pub...please join us from 4:30-6pm.  for some "art talk", a few snacks and see the pieces.

Snow has fallen here at Gull Lake and making it a beautiful setting for my first open studio day.   I'm hosting fellow artists Kathy Gustafson and Terry Honstead this Saturday, December 7th from 10 - 4pm for a Holliday Art Sale.  Stuff On Paper studio will be all gussied up for the season and we'll have treats and SUPER sales on originals, prints, jewelry, greeting cards, my children's books and more.   Please join us!   2 miles West of Tenstrike on Co. 29 and follow the signs.   Check out this winter pic.

Cool news...well, cool to this "needy" artist.  Always great to have your work accepted by a purchase.
November First's Pictograph/Petroglyph show at Wild Hare Bistro opened with one purchase prior to the show by a life long friend DB...(thank you) buying "Bison Talisman" and then another sale of the piece entitled  "Turtle River Turtle"a painting of a stone in the snow... making last week a real Grade A event for Donnie Boy.
The following Monday, I joined Kathy Gustafson to set the second show at Ravenrock, which does not truly open until Dec. 6th.   Excitingly, Kathy sold one as we were placing the pieces on the wall.  Yahoo!
This weekend promises to bring closure on the Small Art for Big Hearts - Take 2 event.

Two at Once...well almost.   This Friday is the opening reception of my show "Lost Pictographs and Petroglyphs" at the Wild Hare Bistro in Bemidji.  I've had multiple shows at this place and they do a great job with welcoming artists.  Times for Friday the 1st of November are from 3-5pm.  Please join me.   The second event coming up is at Ravenrock Gallery also in Bemidji, in which Kathy Gustafson and I will be sharing our Artistic Exploration show for the months of Nov. & Dec.   That opening will be Dec. 6th.

Crunch time and I've now turned my attention to the "two person" show at Ravenrock for November and December.  I'm very fortunate to be teamed up with Kathy Gustafson, one super Artist who is also a member of Studio 10.   Our theme deals with exploration in which we both decided to try something different.  So, Ol' Donnie Boy has drop his previous painting style and gone with a more traditional technique.  I've chosen "shoreline birds" as my subjects.   Here's a couple of samples for the up coming show.  Our reception will be December 6th.
